29/11/2010 - Housing Needs Survey in Pulborough
In the New Year, every household in the parish will be receiving a housing needs survey; this is a short
questionnaire designed to assess the housing needs within the parish. This survey is being carried out by Action
in Rural Sussex, a charity working to address issues affecting rural communities, in partnership with Horsham
District Council and the Parish Council.
In most rural areas there is a yearly reduction in the number of affordable homes available which has resulted in
many young people and families having to move away from their roots to find affordable housing.
If you or anyone you know is in need of affordable housing or has some other housing need please complete and
return the survey. If you know of someone who used to live locally, has moved away but would like to return this
survey is also for them as they have a local connection and could therefore be eligible for any housing that may
be provided in the future.
For more information on the survey or about affordable housing generally please contact Tom Warder, Rural Housing
Enabler at Action in rural Sussex, Tel : 01273 479 008, E-mail: tom.warder@ruralsussex.org.uk
29/11/2010 - Snow and Ice
It is hoped that should such extremes in weather, as we experienced at the beginning of 2010 occur again, West
Sussex County Council will be able to strategically place hippo bags of salt/grit that members of the public can
use. These will be in the Lower Street Car Park, in the layby near to the White Horse Pub and on the corner of Stane Street. If doing so, please bear in mind that too much salt on pavements
is just as dangerous as none at all. West Sussex County Council recommend a spread rate of approximately 20grams
of salt/grit per square metre when hand salting. This is a surprisingly small amount.
